The Heart Behind Emerald

The Legacy That Shaped Me

Emerald Massage & Lymphatic Wellness was never created to be just another massage practice. It was born from a lifetime of caregiving, compassion, and the belief that healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.

My journey began long before I became a licensed massage and lymphatic therapist. At just twelve years old, I became a caregiver within my own family. I learned that healing is not simply about treating the body—it is about offering comfort, preserving dignity, and being fully present during life's most difficult moments.

The greatest influence on my life was my mother.

She devoted her life to caring for others, and whenever she could, she took me with her. As a young girl, I had the privilege of watching compassion in action—not from a distance, but beside her.

One experience that has remained with me throughout my life was watching my mother care for James Brady after he was critically injured in the 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan. During his long recovery, many healthcare professionals were involved in his care, but my mother earned a level of trust that spoke volumes about the kind of caregiver she was. Witnessing her patience, gentleness, and unwavering dedication taught me lessons no classroom ever could.

Those moments quietly shaped my understanding of what healing truly means. Healing is not only about procedures or treatments. It is about showing up with compassion, consistency, dignity, and hope—especially when someone feels most vulnerable.

Watching my mother serve others planted a seed within me that continued to grow throughout my life.

Years later, as my own mother faced peripheral artery disease, multiple surgeries, a quadruple bypass, dialysis, and chronic kidney disease, our roles changed. I became one of her caregivers. Every hospital visit, seasons of rehabilitation, every challenge, and every moment we shared deepened my understanding of what it means to care for another human being with love and dignity.

When my mother passed away in 2017, I took time to grieve, heal, and reflect on the purpose God had placed on my life. That season became the foundation of Emerald.

Today, every client who walks through my door carries a story of their own. Whether they are recovering from surgery, living with lymphedema, managing chronic pain, healing after cancer treatment, or simply searching for hope and restoration, they deserve more than a treatment. They deserve to feel safe, respected, educated, and genuinely cared for.

Emerald Massage & Lymphatic Wellness was created to provide clinical excellence with a compassionate heart—combining evidence-based manual lymphatic drainage, medical massage, and therapeutic—personalized care with the kindness every person deserves.

The photograph of my mother reminds me where my compassion began.

The little girl reminds me why I chose to serve.

The woman I have became reminds me that healing is not simply my profession—-it is my purpose.

From my mother's hands... to my heart... to the lives I serve.

This is why I care.

This page is lovingly dedicated to my mother, whose compassion continues to live through every life I have the privilege to serve.
